What should I do before sending my child
to camp?
If your child has never been away from home
before, arrange for them to spend a night or two
with grandparents or other relatives to get a
feel of what it is like to be away from home.
Make sure your child has a basic understanding
about personal hygiene. Try to refrain from
holding significant family events while your
child is away so they do not feel like they’ve
been excluded. Plan to be ready to go to
your corps to pick your child up once the bus
has returned.
What kinds of activities will my child be

Money that you provide your child(ren) with
may be used at our camp Canteen. The recommended

items at the Canteen is between $5.00 and
$10.00. More may be given if they wish to by a
T-shirt, gift, etc. Money will be collected and
held for them. Any remaining funds at the end of
camp will be returned to them.
How are prescription medications handled?
While at camp, all prescriptions will be
kept in a locked area of the Health Center,
under the supervision of the Health Care
Manager, who will see that all medicine is
distributed to your child appropriately. All
prescriptions must be in the original
container, including asthma inhalers.
Please be sure that the container clearly shows
the dosage and frequency information.
How is camper discipline handled?
Camp Redwood Glen reserves the right to send
home any camper whose actions or attitudes are
considered a risk to the health and safety of
themselves or other campers. In the event that
we must dismiss a child from camp, the parent or
guardian is responsible for the transportation
of their child. If we are unable to contact the
parent or guardian, it is the responsibility of
the Corp Officer or Service Extension Director
to provide transportation for the child.
May I contact my child while at camp?
While at camp, a child may develop
homesickness, which could interrupt the normal
daily camp schedule. We ask that you refrain
from visiting your camper. However, we highly
encourage sending your camper mail from home
during their session. To ensure your child
receives your letter(s) while at camp, please
mail them at least one week prior to the first
day of the camp session.
Please send mail to:

and drugs?
The possession or use of alcohol, tobacco or
drugs is not permitted and may require the
dismissal of anyone violating this rule.
What is your policy on weapons?
Guns, knives, explosives and other
similarly-related items are considered a high
risk toward the health and safety of others. If
any of these types of items are found in a
camper’s possession, it will be confiscated and
disposed of by the Program Director. Bringing
weapons and/or other potentially harmful objects
to camp is grounds for dismissal!
What if my child has bedwetting issues?
If bedwetting has been a concern, please inform
your corps officer so they can notify camp.
